Aalto University – possibilities and study options for Ukrainian youth and adults

Where: Aalto University School of Business, Ekonominaukio 1. Classroom BIZ Lounge, T004.

When: Monday 23.9, at 17:00 – 19:00.

Description: a presentation for Ukrainian youth and young visitors on study options. The idea is to provide guidance on how to apply to Aalto University programs in a broad sense, covering the application process, requirements, and any special options for Ukrainian students. This is also an opportunity to excite the youth about applying and getting to know our community and University culture!

Who will attend:

  1. Audience; Ukrainian youth/adults interested in studying at Aalto.The audience will mostly be 17+ years old, with some over 30, most students aiming for Bachelor’s and Master’s programs (but there could be someone interested in a Ph.D.).
  1. Anastasia Koptsyukh; Doctoral Student at Aalto University and co-founder of Vallila Help Center, coordinates Ukrainian youth/adults to the presentation and shares her experience of Aalto.
  1. Ellen Kuitunen and Jenni Hirvensalo; study options, how to apply (in broad sense), application process & requirements, special options for Ukrainian students.
  1. Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral students sharing their experiences and answer questions (tentative):
  • Ohto Muinonen Master’s student in Finance (Bachelor’s spring 24)
  • Topias Lahikainen Master’s student in Information and System Management
  • Otso Lammi Master’s student in Information and System Management
  • Kasimir Jolkkonen Doctoral student in the International Business Unit

The evening schedule (tentative):

  • 17:00 – 17:15: Welcome and refreshments at Biz Terrace Lounge [Anastasia]
  • 17:15 – 18:00: Presentation on applying for Aalto programs, including key differences (eg. English/Finnish applications), with a Q&A session [a joint presentation by Ohto and a study coordinator + existing students to share their experience?]
  • 18:00 – 18:30: Networking/informal chat with Aalto students [those attending] with snacks
  • 18:30 – 19:00: Campus Walk (have a walk from Ekonominaukio through Väre, and towards the Undergraduate Center).
  • 19:00: Event concludes.

Notes:

  • The presentation can be in English, with Valilla providing a Ukrainian translator. 
  • In advance [a week/week and a half before the event], with a sign-up form, Vallila Help Center will ask attendees to

1) indicate the type of program they are interested in

2) the level of studies (e.g., Bachelor’s)

3) preferred language (Finnish, English).

This will help with the preparation of the presentation materials.
